Alberto Pedretti
He began his musical studies at the age of fourteen under the guidance of Maestro Paolo Bettoli and was subsequently admitted to the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia, where he studied with Maestro Eugenio Abbiatici. In 2005, he graduated with top honors under Maestro Guido Delmonte. He later completed the Postgraduate Biennium of Specialization at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato of Aosta, studying with Maestro Vincent Lepape.
Committed to continuous artistic development, he pursued advanced studies at the Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB)with Ian Bousfield, former Principal Trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic. He also attended annual euphonium masterclasses at ISEB in Trent with Steven Mead during the academic years 2001/2002 and 2005/2006. He is currently further expanding his artistic profile through composition studies at the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Darfo Boario Terme with Maestro Vincenzo Simmarano.
Since 2003, he has undertaken advanced specialization courses with internationally renowned artists including Christian Lindberg, Joseph Alessi, Charles Vernon, Andrea Bandini, Eitan Bezalel, Michel Becquet, Jörgen van Rijen, and Steven Mead (euphonium).
His artistic excellence has been recognized in numerous competitions, earning awards such as First Prize at the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Competition (2000), First Prize at the Chimeri Competition in Brescia (2004), and Third Prize at the 1st International Competition “Città di Aosta” (2008), among others.
He has performed with major Italian orchestras including the Orchestra dell’Arena di Verona, Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, and the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. From 2007 to 2012, he served as First and Second Trombone with the Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma. Since 2013, he has held the position of Principal Trombone of the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Bruno Bartoletti, Jurij Temirkanov, Andrea Battistoni, Donato Renzetti, and Gianluigi Gelmetti.
A dedicated chamber musician, he has performed in over 400 concerts, particularly with the Brescia Quartet (formerly Mascoulisse Quartet), with whom he has recorded CDs released by Aldebaran Editions. As a soloist, he has appeared with various wind orchestras, performing repertoire including the Rimsky-Korsakov Concerto and the Concertino by Ferdinand David.
He also collaborates with Aldebaran Editions as an arranger, contributing notably to the “Bach for All” series.
He is currently Professor of Trombone at the Conservatory of Caltanissetta (Sicily), where he continues to mentor and inspire the next generation of musicians.
